Marlene Mild has already built a strong reputation in her native Germany as a concert and opera artist. Most recently she received three nominations as “Singer of the Year” from Opernwelt magazine based on her interpretation of the title role in Melusine – considered to be one of the most difficult coloratura roles in the modern repertoire - at the Nuremberg State Theater. The complete opera by Aribert Reimann was broadcast and recorded for release this year by the Bayerischer Rundfunk.
During her education at the Cologne Conservatory, Marlene Mild studied lieder with Gary Holt and Hartmut Hoell and voice with Dietger Jacob and Richard Leisenheimer. She supplemented her training with masterclasses by such artists as Kurt Widmer, Barbara Schlick and Kurt Moll. Ms. Mild’s first engagement at Theater Hagen was followed by guest appearances on the stages of Cologne, Dortmund and Bremerhaven. During her time as a permanent ensemble member of Theater Osnabrueck she sang such roles as Adele in Die Fledermaus, Zerlina in Don Giovanni and Gretel in Hansel and Gretel.
During her most recent engagement in the ensemble of the Nuremberg State Theater, Marlene Mild widened her repertoire to include many of the important roles in the lyric coloratura fach. Highlights include Queen of the Night, Olympia, Rosina in Il barbiere di siviglia and Melusine in the opera of the same name.
Alongside her operatic roles Marlene Mild has enjoyed a fruitful concert and recording career. She has performed throughout Europe as a soloist in major works by Bach, Handel and Haydn. Recordings include a solo release of works by Hanns Eisler in a co-production with the Westdeutscher Rundfunk, and the operas Hans Sachs by Albert Lortzing, and Die Englische Katze Hans Werner Henze with the Norddeutscher Rundfunk.
Marlene Mild has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the National Competition of Singing in Berlin (Bundeswettbewerb Gesang), a grant from the NRW Art and Culture Foundation, and the designation of “Star of the Year” by the newspaper Nuernberger Nachrichten. Upcoming engagements include Queen of the Night in Hanover.
